FPRC web site relaunch
After a several-year hiatus, the Filled Pause Research Center web site has been relaunched! Please come and see what's new.
For the past few years, FPRC has been somewhat dormant, lying out of reach of most search engines. However, the site has now been fully revised and updated. The mission remains the same as when the site was first launched in 1998: to promote greater understanding of how and why people use filled pauses and other hesitation phenomena in communication.
The site is aimed to serve people at several different levels. First, there are those who might be browsing for some interesting reading---drive-thru surfers, if you will---who will be interested in skimming the various articles about filled pauses and the like. Second, there are those who have more than a passing interest in the topic and may become registered users of the site. These people will have full access to contribute news items, participate in forums, and so on. Finally, there are those who are (or have been) actively engaged in research about filled pauses and related phenomena. These people may request even wider access to the site including the opportunity to post articles and create and moderate forums related to their particular interests.
In short, there is something for everyone at FPRC. So take the opportunity to browse the site, read some articles, and even comment on them if you wish. Through this kind of collaborative interaction, we can all come to understand better the ums and uhs we say every day!
